The Peripheral Water Conservancy System is located in the north and west of the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City. At present, a total of 11 dam sites have been confirmedFrom the eastern end of Tangshan Site north to the City Site to the westernmost Mifenglong Site it is 11 km. From the northernmost Shiwu Site to the southernmost Wutongnong Site it is 5.5 km. The straight distance between the center of the City Site and Mifenglong Site is about 10 km. According to their form and location, these dam sites can be categorized into high-dam at the mouth of the valley, low-dam on the plain and causeway in front of mountains.

According to latest archaeological dating data in recent years, the Peripheral Water Conservancy System was built in the Liangzhu cultural period 5,000 years ago. It had been an integral part of the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City outside the City Site under uniform planning and design at the beginning of its construction, and the construction of the water resource
